Appointing the Headteacher
In September 2009, on behalf of the Full Governing Body, a group of five Governors were tasked to recruit a new Headteacher to Earls Colne Primary School. It was a daunting task. The selection of the right person makes a huge difference to the lives of so many children in Earls Colne and the surrounding area.
It was essential that a successful candidate not only had a proven track record of successfully leading a school, but that they possessed a clear vision of school development especially focussed on pupil progress at all levels. Melanie clearly demonstrated all the right qualities, experience and skills during the selection process. Since her appointment she has taken some very significant steps to improve the quality of teaching, pupil progress and the general wellbeing across the whole school.
We as the Governing Body have complete confidence in Melanie and seen how her drive, enthusiasm, expertise, and professionalism has moved the school forward. The recent overall grading of “good” by Ofsted, underscores the great improvements made under her leadership. Melanie’s passion is truly reflected in our vision of inspiring all children at Earls Colne Primary School to flourish, to thrive and to achieve.
