Welcome to Earls Colne Primary School Art Gallery!
Here, you can browse through examples of children's final pieces and find out about the famous artists that influenced their work.
Year 3 and 4 Artwork
In the Autumn term, Year 3 and 4 explored the maiden (and last!) voyage of the Titanic. During our art sessions, we got inspired by the art of George Seurat, a famous pointillist and we used his techniques to create a pointillism landscape of the Titanic.
In the Spring term, we were learning about the Romans. In Art, we focused on creating our own mosaics based upon those we had seen on our trip to Colchester Castle and through our own research. Instead of using tesserea (tiles) and mortar to create our mosaics, we explored the effects of using paint, pencil or card. Some children designed a geometric pattern, while others were brave and tried depicting an image.
In the Summer Term, we will be learning about the rainforest and this will be a perfect opportunity to explore the life and works of Henri Rousseau, who famously painted plants and animals living in the rainforest! We will create collages of the rainforest, focusing on creating the shape, texture and colour of the wide variety of foliage found in the rainforest.
Examples of some of our finished pieces are shown below.
Year 5 & 6 Artwork
Here are some examples of the artwork being created by the children in years 5 and 6. In the spring term, the children's topics included Earth and Space and learning about the artist Andy Warhol. They designed their own Andy Warhol inspired chocolate wrapper art and wonderful pictures representing what they learned about the solar system.
