The National Curriculum for science aims to develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through biology, chemistry and physics.
Although the National Curriculum lists topics to be taught within specific year groups it does state that these topics can be taught at any time during the phase.
We feel it is important to develop and promote scientific ways of thinking in our children, including open mindedness, objectivity, creativity and the ability to understand the importance of teamwork. We aim to stimulate children's curiosity in the world around them as they develop scientific enquiry skills by modelling and investigating ideas.
Via practical and virtual experiments on the computer, children are encouraged to observe, question, test ideas and draw meaningful conclusions as a result of their investigations. These elements underpin all elements of scientific
EARLS COLNE VILLAGE CAROL SERVICE
Due to continued bad weather, the school will not be participating in the Earls Colne Village Carol service tonight.
Unfortunately, due to sheet ice around and on the school site we have had to make the decision to close the school we would not be able to guarantee the safety of children and staff in the current circumstances.
