Productions are a wonderful way for children to express themselves creatively and at Earls Colne every child gets to experiences that at some point in every school year.
The EYFS and KS1 children perform a play or nativity at Christmas and the children in KS2 take part in a musical production in either the spring or summer term.
It is just one of the ways that the whole school community can share and celebrate the talents of all the children who take part and take great joy in doing so.
Every year our youngest children delight their audiences with a moving and heart warming performance. Usually they produce a nativity play, which is a mix of the traditional story with one or two modern additions. It is a very enjoyable experience for parents and children alike.
This year, KS1 took part in the nativity play 'The Camel's Arms' and there are some photos below.
Last year's Year 3/4 production was 'Hoodwinked'. It was chosen to compliment the topic that the children were studing in the Spring Term.
The cast was chosen so that all the children in Year 4 were able to play a part, with Year 3 taking the part of the chorus.
After intensive rehearsals, the rest of the school were able to watch the dress rehearsal and parents and carers were invited to watch two evening performances.
Year 3/4 did a great job and delighted everyone that watched!
The Year 5/6 production takes place at the end of the Summer Term and is one of the last major events our Year 6 children take part in before they move on to secondary school.
In Summer Term 2017, they chose to base their production based on the legendary story of King Arthur 'What A Knight'. They used a series of modern songs to bring it up to date and this meant they were truly enthusiastic singers. Year 6 formed the main bodyof the cast, supported by a chorus of Year 5s.
After weeks of planning and rehearsals, the first dress rehearsal was watched by the rest of the school and it was a great hit with everyone. Two performances to parents and carers followed, both were packed out audiences and the laughter and applause rang out.
Well done to all of the upper phase and what a wonderful way to end the school year!
EARLS COLNE VILLAGE CAROL SERVICE
Due to continued bad weather, the school will not be participating in the Earls Colne Village Carol service tonight.
Unfortunately, due to sheet ice around and on the school site we have had to make the decision to close the school we would not be able to guarantee the safety of children and staff in the current circumstances.
Click here to find out about our amazing Fireworks Display. We raised a whopping £6758 for our school.
