'By far the best school that I have ever had the pleasure to work in. I've coached in many schools since 2005 and I've never been as comfortable with the staff, children and general environment as I am at Earls Colne.'

Ramsey Indoor Athletics Competition
On the afternoon of Monday 15th January, 29 pupils from The Upper Phase participated in a Sportshall Athletics competition at The Ramsey Academy and competed against four other schools. This consisted of a range of track and field events, separate for boys and girls. The field events included vertical jump, long jump, triple jump, chest push, speed bounce and javelin. The track events included a mixture of different relay events, with either one, two, or four entrants. Each pupils was allowed to compete in a maximum of four events – two track and two field.
Everyone had a great time and enjoyed taking part in all of the track and field events. We demonstrated good teamwork skills and good sportsmanship as we cheered everyone on. Earls Colne Primary School came 4th overall.

The Daily Mile
Each Monday lunctime, children in KS1 & KS2 can take part in a 1 mile run, or walk over a 15 minute session. Have a look at some of the pictures below that have been taken to showcase the fun the children have.
Children keep a tally of the number of times they participate in the daily mile on a log in their classrooms.
The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of our children in a non competitive environment.
Sport, exercise and the health of our children are an essential part of fulfilling our vision statement: Inspiring all Children to Create and Acieve. All children take part in two lessons of high quality PE each week, one session taking place indoors and the other outside. We believe that all children should experience a wide rage of sports, including netball, volleyball and badminton as well as activities such as orienteering, swimming (in our very own outdoor pool) and in the upper phase the opportunity to take part in the Bikeability programme to become safe cyclists. Details of our sports programme can be found on the curriculum maps located in the Our Curriculum section of the website. The majority of PE lessons are taught by school staff but professional coaches, such as the Colchester United Community Coaching Team, are also used to lead lessons.
All children, whatever their abilities, take part in PE lessons with, where necessary, activities being adapted to allow them equal opportunity of participation.
At the end of the summer term all the children take part in either KS1 or KS2 Sports Day and have a wonderful time cheered on enthusiastically by their parents. Cream teas and other refreshments are provided by the Friends and prove extremely popular.
On Wednesday 18th of October, Earls Colne Primary School football team (Jasper Bradford, Zac Burton, Jack Swinhoe, Ashden Lyons, Khalad Sherif, Luca McCracken, Jayden Bishop, Rudy keys, Alfie Potter and me) got invited to play in a tournament at The Ramsey Academy. On arrival we walked on to the astro turf and started to warm up. After warming up and talking about the rules we played our first game which was against St. Peters. Despite first game nerves we won! Having gained further confidence from our win we went on to play Richard De Clare and St. Andrews. We played very well in both matches and despite tough competition we won both! In our final match we played Holy Trinity. This proved to be our toughest match and despite a 100% effort from us all we unfortunately lost. Overall we came second and were very proud of ourselves.
