At Earls Colne Primary & Nursery we value the contribution made to a child's learning by extra-curricular activities. We offer a wide variety of activities and clubs both at lunch time and after school. Some of these activities are run by teachers or sporting organisations and some by volunteers.
Recently the children have had the chance to participate in athletics, textiles, rounders, dance and netball. The weekly tennis and football clubs run by outside coaches are very popular. Periodically the Friends run an after school cinema club which plays to a packed house.
At Earls Colne we have a thriving gardening club led by Mrs Leach which takes full advantage of the garden and greenhouse to grow vegetables. The children really enjoy the opportunity to learn about how things grow and how to look after them. They particularly enjoy the external visits and talks from professional horticulturists and people who work on the land.
During the spring half term break a fantastic transformation took place in the school garden.
Gone were all the weeds, brambles and rubbish. They had been replaced by matting and bark. Chris Wooldridge Landscapes had previously strimmed the garden but during half term they came back and finished off.
This enabled the gardening club to dig over the raised beds and plant flowers, vegetables, and herbs which could be used in the school kitchen.
The top area of the garden will be a wildlife area with a small pond, bird bath and a bug house.
The gardening club would like to say a huge thank you to Chris Wooldridge Landscapes for doing the gardening for us.
I like gardening club because we get to learn lots of new things and it is fun and everyone is enthusiastic about it!

Art and story club is a great way for you to do lots of fun, awesome activities as well as learning about God and bible stories. The teacher is called Olive Hutchinson but we all call her Mrs Olive. During previous weeks we have done a 'Scrapheap Challenge' (made out of entirely recycled materials) where you have to make a sculpture of your choice.
We came up with the idea of a talent show, hopefully aiming for the end of the Easter term, when we can show our musical side or just a funny talent we have.
This club takes place in the library, located near Lion class and it starts straight after school from 3:15 - 4:15 on a Wednesday. I hope to see you there.
